Walking around Barcelona I often wonder what things used to look like
in the past. Ten years ago? Twenty years ago? Fifty years ago? So I
got Googling and found these, many old postcards, some old
photographs. Turns out a lot of the city has looked pretty much the
same a for a very long time! Methinks other cities should follow
Barcelona's example.
I know the festival appears to have a pretty low profile (internationally at least), and even many visitors to PS Sound don’t even know of its existence, but Primavera Sound’s little brother is pretty damn special in its own right. How special? Just cast an eye below: Ganglians, Teenage Fanclub, Wavves, Lou Barlow, Wild Nothing, Small Black, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Frankie Rose and The Outs, Male Bonding, Holy Fuck, Beach Fossils, Tamaryn, Edwyn Collins, Twin Sister, Zola Jesus, Triángulo De Amor Bizarro, Yuck, Fred i Son, John Grant, S.C.U.M, Smoke Fairies, Guadalupe Plata, Thee Brandy Hips, Sophia, Eat Skull, JAILL, Mount Kimbie, Senderos, Caballo Trípode, etc. What’s also cool about it is that it’s held in venues across the entire city, from small bars to large 1950s dance-halls, so if you’re visiting, you may want to rent a bike, and if you’re lucky enough to live here, Bicing will be your best friend this week. It all kicks off today! Venues: A few songs I hope to hear over the coming days: Frankie Rose and the Outs – Hollow Life Wild Nothing – Your Rabbit Feet The Rural Alberta Advantage – Dont Haunt This Place Teenage Fanclub – Dumb Dumb Dumb * Official website *
I can’t believe a whole year has already passed since last year’s edition. This time last year E and I were still living in Athens, and we flew here (Barcelona) to attend Primavera Club 2009. That was our very first Primavera (Club or Sound), and now here we are, living in the city, going to what is already our third (Primavera Sound 2010 was the second)! Good times indeed.
